"What services does SKY provide?" SKY provides neuropsychological counseling, behavioral management, work/school re-entry counseling, nursing, speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. The Clinical Facility Manager facilitates and coordinates the care and the SKY Medical Director provides medical oversight. Clinical Support Coordinators support the clinical treatment plan as directed by the licensed therapist. This comprehensive approach to therapy is provided using a structured-day team-approach within the SKY facility. "What neurological experience does the SKY Clinical Team have?" The SKY Clinical Team has over 100 years of documented experience of providing neurological rehabilitation in various settings from trauma hospitals to skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities to outpatient clinics. They also demonstrate a passion for providing services to persons with neurological related conditions and their families. "What types of patients are appropriate for admission to SKY?" Examples of types of patients admitted to SKY are those who have sustained strokes (CVA), acquired brain injuries (ABI) like brain tumors and aneurysms or traumatic brain injuries (TBI) secondary to motor vehicle accidents, falls, assaults or spinal cord injuries with residual cognitive deficits or other neurological conditions that have similar deficits and impairments. "How old do you have to be to be admitted to SKY?" SKY will admit persons age 16 and older. "What level does the patient have to be at to be admitted to SKY?" The patient must be able to follow at least one step commands and to physically and mentally participate in therapy. Assistive devices used upon admission can vary from wheelchairs to straight canes while other patients are independent with ambulating. Nursing needs may range from medication administering to tube feeding to blood glucose and blood pressure checks. The SKY Clinical Team develops individualized treatment plans based on the initial evaluations of each client. "What if the person cannot tolerate a full day of therapy?" The ability to tolerate a full day of therapy is NOT a determining factor for admission or participation in the SKY Neurological outpatient Program. Upon admission, the SKY Clinical Team evaluates the person’s tolerance level for therapy. SKY Clients’ therapy schedules vary according to their individual needs and client/family goals. "How long after the injury is a person appropriate for admission to SKY?" The length of time after an injury is NOT a determining factor for admission. SKY Clinical Liaison will conduct pre-admission evaluations on all referred persons to determine if they meet the criterion for admission and to identify specific treatment goals of the client and family. "Does SKY provide lunch for clients?" SKY clients and families are encouraged to bring their lunch due to the various dietary restrictions that may apply to each individual. The SKY Clinical Team’s treatment plan includes meal planning and preparation to support the goals to return to the client’s previous daily routine. Clinical Support Coordinators are available to provide assistance as needed to clients who eat lunch while at SKY. SKY accepts commercial insurance, (i.e. AETNA, CIGNA, CareFirst, UHC/MAMSI, etc), Medicare, Managed Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, Private Pay via MasterCard/VISA, Personal Checks and Cash. "Does SKY provide transportation?" SKY will assist family members with their transportation needs. SKY offers the service of its preferred providers of transportation for SKY-Annapolis, Neet-n-Klean Taxi Company and Next Level Transportation for SKY-Pikesville.
