NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION THERAPY
Annapolis, Maryland- A neurological rehabilitation center, unlike any other in the area, announces its opening November 1, 2002, to serve the Baltimore-Washington region. SKY Neurological Rehabilitation (SKY) opened at 190 Admiral Cochrane Drive Suite 180 in Annapolis, Maryland and is offering comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation therapy and family support in the convenience of a single community-based facility.
SKY provides specialized therapy to persons who sustained neurological injuries such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, aneurysm, tumors, spinal cord injury and other related conditions. This is the only comprehensive community-based outpatient program based in Maryland's capital. "SKY is unique in that we use the innovative behavioral and job and/or school re-entry counseling to complement the traditional occupational, speech-language and physical therapies," says Chief Operations Officer Yvette Valiente. "We work with the patients and their families to determine the best therapy combination and plan of care that ensure the patient's optimal recovery to functional independence."
SKY clinical team includes speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, neuropsychologist, nurse case manager, physician as well as neurological rehabilitation technicians who provide the Standard of Care for Neurological Rehabilitation as defined by the Brain Injury Consensus Panel of the National Institutes of Health. Sharon Sauls, the Chief Executive Officer further comments, "The goal of the Outpatient Program of SKY is to allow patients to be discharged from the hospital to live in the comfort of their home environment while receiving the level of quality therapy during the day in a "real-life" setting that would enable them to adapt after the injury, to their daily routine in order to function as safe and independent as possible."
