Dr. Sarah White Sarah White, MD, is board certified by both the American Board f Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She was born in New Hartford, New York, and grew up in Rome, New York, Poughkeepsie, New York and Westfield, New Jersey. She graduated with Honors and Distinction from Cornell University in 1981 and received her MD degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1985. From 1985-86, she completed her first year of an Orthopaedic surgery residency program at George Washington University. In 1991, she completed her residency in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington DC. She later served as an Attending Physician on the staff of Washington Hospital Center and the National Rehabilitation Hospital. In 1994, she joined Bay Area Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in private practice, where she has continued. She joined the SKY Team in 2006 as Medical Director to provide medical consultation and to facilitate communication with the client’s family, the client’s physicians and the clinical team to optimize the medical treatment, rehabilitation course and therapeutic outcome. Dr. White was asked to share the significance of the SKY Clinical Model when treating persons with strokes and brain injuries. She responded, “The SKY Clinical Model emphasizes the multi-transdisciplinary team approach to stroke and traumatic brain injury recovery to maximize the functional outcomes for our patients and families.” Dr. White has published several articles in nationally recognized medical journals, has presented research papers at both national and local medical meetings, has served for three years on the Board of the Arthritis Foundation and is a member of MedChi. She loves to ski, bike ride and travel with her 17 year old son and 12 year old daughter. Her two miniature daschunds and two guinea pigs keep the family busy. |
